Sitting in the den,
Looking out the windows,
The wind is kicking up,
The sun still making shadows…

The eye of the hurricane is here,
It is intense but calm outdoors,
And the worst is yet to come,
We are bracing for much more…

Tree limbs have fallen,
Debris all over the streets,
The rain is starting over again,
It will be long before all retreats…

Birds and small outdoor animals,
Are not seen during this weather,
They hide within their habitat,
Huddling close together…

Air traffic is silent,
During this dangerous storm,
The skyline is very different,
It has been quite reformed…

The clouds are dark and dismal,
They carry the heavy rains,
This fear is on our minds,
When will they burst again…

Mother nature only knows,
When the calm will appear,
Once the storm is over,
For now we must persevere…

For anyone who has experienced a hurricane….
